The current human-medicine FaMed practice test asks for the anamnesis section of a doctor's letter, based on a patient video. The entire task has a 22-minute maximum, including video time. The video may be paused and moved backward or forward.
What belongs in the requested text
Capture the information actually given: identity and personal details, current symptoms and course, previous illnesses and medication, tobacco and alcohol use, family and social history and relevant travel history. Check the concrete assignment for the required information.
Write complete sentences using appropriate medical language. Convey patient statements with suitable distance, for example the Konjunktiv where appropriate. Do not turn missing information into a negative finding.
Step 1: Extract facts before composing
Use a short note grid. Keep times, quantities and negations visible. Mark uncertain words so you can revisit the relevant video segment. A blank medication field does not mean the patient takes no medication.
For a fictional language exercise, suppose the source says:
„Seit drei Tagen habe ich Bauchschmerzen. Mir ist übel, aber ich habe nicht erbrochen.“
Your notes could read: three days; abdominal pain; nausea; vomiting explicitly denied. They do not support a temperature, examination result or diagnosis.
Step 2: Convert the notes into connected sentences
A possible formulation is:
Der Patient gebe an, seit drei Tagen unter Bauchschmerzen zu leiden. Begleitend bestehe Übelkeit; Erbrechen werde verneint.
This is an original short example, not a complete model answer or an official case. Preserve the facts before trying to make the sentence more elaborate.
Step 3: Check the draft against the source
Read for name and age, time course, side/location, units, medication names and negations. Then check sentence structure, verb forms, spelling and references. Use the 22-minute overall limit in full practice; your own viewing/writing split can change as you improve.
Where SOAP does and does not help
SOAP organises some clinical notes into subjective, objective, assessment and plan. This FaMed assignment requests the anamnesis. It does not ask you to invent an objective examination, diagnosis, discharge plan or medication order to fill the other headings. Nor does it require you to recycle the patient from the earlier oral task.
A correction drill: which phrases change the source?
Use only the short fictional statement above. Check these draft fragments before looking at the explanation:

| „Erbrechen bestehe“ | Reverses the explicit denial. A suitable formulation is „Erbrechen werde verneint“. |
| „Er nehme keine Medikamente“ | Adds an unsupported negative medication history. The statement gives no medication information. |
| „Der Patient sei afebril“ | Adds a temperature finding that the statement does not supply. |
The last two statements are unsupported in this short drill; that does not mean you should omit medication or temperature information when the actual video supplies it. Revisit the source instead of deciding from a template.
On your second attempt, underline the duration, nausea and denial of vomiting. Check that all three facts survived your language edits. Then mark one remaining sentence-level problem to practise next time. This checklist is not an official score and cannot certify readiness.
