Cardiology Language Practice: Symptoms, Findings and Case Presentations
Cardiovascular examples can help you practise medical German. They are not evidence that a particular diagnosis appears in a certain share of FaMed exams.
FaMed assesses language performance, not medical knowledge separately. In the presentation task, report the information supplied rather than inventing a diagnosis, drug dose or intervention.
Ask about a reported symptom
For a fictional history exercise involving chest discomfort, practise clear questions:
- „Seit wann bestehen die Beschwerden?“
- „Wie fühlen sie sich an, und wo genau spüren Sie sie?“
- „Strahlen die Beschwerden aus?“
- „Was hat sich seit Beginn verändert?“
These examples practise language. Answers alone do not confirm or exclude a particular disease. Use the pain-history framework to adapt follow-up questions to the source scenario.
Separate the patient's report from findings
Suppose a fictional source states that Herr Beispiel reports breathlessness when lying down, that his legs have become swollen, and that an examination report is not supplied.
A faithful formulation is:
Herr Beispiel berichte über Atemnot im Liegen und neu aufgetretene Beinschwellungen. Zu Auskultation und Vitalparametern liegen im vorliegenden Material keine Angaben vor.
Do not add crackles, oxygen saturation or a medication administration simply because they might fit an expected diagnosis.
Present a documented finding precisely
If the source actually supplies an ECG finding, measurement or plan, report it with its units, timing and context. Preserve whether the source calls something suspected or confirmed. An assessment must not become more certain merely to make your language sound confident.
The SBAR practice article helps organise information. It does not prescribe a compulsory official schema or clinical treatment sequence.
Use the correct task for writing
The written station asks for the anamnesis section from its video. It does not require you to write an acute-heart-failure treatment plan or carry over this cardiology case. See the written-task guide.
