FaMED Preparation: A 30-Minute Daily Study Routine

•5 min read

You've collected study material, but are you also practicing speaking? For preparing for medical language situations, a fixed workflow helps. Here is a 30-minute routine that you can adapt to your learning level. This is a learning suggestion from FaMED Prep, not an official exam requirement and no guarantee of passing.

Minutes 0–5: One Learning Goal Instead of Ten Topics

Choose a single task: open a conversation, summarize information, or formulate a section of a doctor's letter. Write down what you want to express more clearly at the end. Example: "Today I will practice politely asking for clarification on an unclear answer."

If you want to continue practicing this topic, also read Mastering the FaMED Anamnese: Part 1 - Overview & Key Strategies.

Do you first need a schedule for your study weeks? You can find the free study plan here.

Minutes 5–15: Practice Aloud

Speak the task aloud. Record yourself with your own device or practice with a study partner. Use a case example, but do not memorize a supposedly universal model answer. Your formulations should fit the specific situation.

If you are missing a word, mark the spot and continue speaking. This way, you will notice which gaps actually hinder you in conversation.

Minutes 15–20: Three Concrete Observations

Listen to your recording. Note only three things: Was the sequence understandable? Were your sentences clear? Which part do you want to formulate more precisely? For medical content, you need a professionally appropriate source or qualified feedback; language training does not replace this review.

For the next learning step, How to Prepare for the FaMED Exam While Working Full-Time (6-Week Plan) will help you.

Minutes 20–27: Repeat the Difficult Section

Practice the same section again. Change a formulation and compare both attempts. The goal is a noticeable improvement instead of an ever-longer list of unread materials.

Do you want to not just read, but practice practically? Here we show the FaMED Prep App step by step before you decide on access.

Minutes 27–30: Note the Next Step

Write down one sentence: "Tomorrow I will repeat...". Keep your notes and check after a week which tasks are easier for you. As your exam date approaches, align your overall plan with your individual needs and the current information from the respective exam provider.

Track the same routine over a week

Use the seven-day practice tracker to save a first attempt, choose one correction and check a repeat across Anamnese, Aufklärung, Arzt–Arzt and writing. A completed session is practice evidence, not an exam score.
