Start with the official format

The exam provider's published practice test includes patient-history and informed-consent conversations, doctor-to-doctor patient presentations, and written documentation. Consult the official FaMed practice test and the provider's current information for the applicable instructions. This preparation site is independent of the exam provider.

A study schedule is not an examination rulebook. Check the current format, eligibility, timing and registration information with the provider rather than relying on an older blog post.

Choose one communication goal

Start with a task you can actually practise: opening a conversation, summarising information, asking a clear follow-up question, presenting a case or drafting a section of a letter. Write down the exact skill you want to improve.

Combine reading and speaking

Read a short section, close the material and explain the idea in your own words. Record your own practice if you find it useful. Listen for clarity and structure, then repeat the most difficult passage. Qualified feedback is valuable when you need to check medical content or recurring language problems.

Make writing a regular task

Build a sustainable weekly schedule

Set a realistic number of sessions around your work and language-learning commitments. Mix reading, speaking, writing and review rather than measuring progress only by pages read. Use the eight-week study plan as a template, not a promise that every learner needs the same amount of time. The 30-minute routine is useful when time is limited.
